Alex Mellor
I had become increasingly aware of the significant impact grief was having on my life, after the death of my parents and the recent loss of several friends to cancer, as well as having been made redundant and becoming increasingly less mobile. In addition, my son and daughter both work with children and had told me about the profound experience of watching children grieve without knowing how to help them deal with their loss. The Grief Recovery programme taught me to take a series of positive actions which have enabled me to recover from my significant emotional losses and has lead me to enjoy life while remembering precious moments. There isn’t anyone in life who hasn’t experienced some kind of loss. Even if your loss was years ago, it’s never too late to learn how to heal a broken heart. Please give me a call to find out if this approach feels helpful for you too and if you would like me to lead you gently through the action steps to recovery from the pain of loss.

  • International Pride Month and Grief - what do they have in common?
Given that homosexuality is still illegal in 73 countries and many other countries are still debating the status of couples’ rights in terms of marriage, taxation, adoption and end-of-life care, it’s no wonder that many families are then faced with a number of challenging losses. Many couples essentially lose the privileges that are taken for granted by heterosexual couples, understandably resulting in anger, sadness and frustration.
  • Father's Day for Grievers
For those who are having a hard time with Father's Day this year, remember you are entitled to feelings of sadness even if your dad is still alive and well - life is complicated, and with any change or challenge there is bound to be grief.
  • When Father's Day isn't Easy
Depending on your situation, you may prefer to spend Father’s Day hiding in bed rather than looking at your Facebook feed or leaving the house. Here are just a few of the circumstances that could make it difficult to enjoy the holiday.
