Aoife Douglas
I am a Registered Accredited Counselling Psychotherapist (MBACP). I adopt a Humanistic Integrative approach and have studied a great deal in the area of grief and loss. I found that many of my clients were struggling with unresolved grief and I wanted to explore alternative methods. This led me to train as a Grief Recovery Specialist in 2016 and I completed my ‘Advanced’ training in 2020 enabling me to provide the Grief Recovery Method programme online.
I have found the Grief Recovery process to be an invaluable method when helping people on their journey towards recovery.
If you are feeling lost, stuck, broken, in pain, fatigued, anxious or stressed, all of these feelings, and more, are “normal and natural” reactions to any change that occurs in life.
Maybe you find that you tell yourself to be strong and not to feel bad or that you try to replace these feelings by keeping busy? You may sometimes feel like you cannot express yourself to your friends and family, so you say nothing at all. You may find yourself asking, why do I not feel any better with time? These are just some of the issues that we explore together during the Grief Recovery Method Programme.
You may have come across this page as you do not know what to say to your children during times of grief. What language to use when talking to them and how much detail to share. Our Helping Children with Loss Programme educates parents, teachers, guardians and caregivers on how to communicate with “our” children in an effective, supportive and safe manner.
If any of the above sounds familiar to you please reach out and contact me. There is no charge or obligation, please call me to find out more. I am here to listen and offer support in any way that I can.

What is The Grief Recovery Method?

How we're different to Cruse

Grief Recovery Blog

  • Are you drinking too much?
We’re all human, so we deal with feelings of discomfort in the way we know how. We’re not telling you to feel bad about your drinking behaviour – it’s important right now that we be patient and compassionate with ourselves.
  • Grieving the loss of a pet
Have you ever lost a pet and found that you’ve grieved in silence?
  • Anticipating the Death of a Loved One
Grief is usually associated with the experience of loss, but anticipatory grief can start as soon as you become aware that death is on the cards. Once death is even just a possibility, it wouldn’t be unusual to start grieving.
