2 Day Conference for Specialists 2019

Welcome to the 3rd Conference held in the UK solely for Specialists.

We are very excited to present an invigorating programme packed with interactive workshops, presentations from experts, groups discussions and of course a large amount of fun. Following feedback from our last event we have included even more time for networking and more hands on learning. Whether you haven't started your GR work yet and want to be inspired to finally get going or you've now got more experience and so more questions this is the event for you.

If you are not UK based you are very welcome to come along, although there will inevitably be a bias towards the UK market in discussions we know that most of the problems faced here are the same in just about every market- just with different emphasis.

Dates 11th & 12th May 2019 Harben House Hotel & Conference Centre, Newport Pagnell near Milton Keynes

Want to keep costs down? To organise car sharing / room sharing etc the easiest way to connect is via the facebook group for Specialists. Click through to post or request to join if you haven't yet.

How to Write a Funding Bid

Catherine Best
Advanced Grief Recovery Specialist

Following the death of three friends in a two-week period in 2012, Catherine was heartbroken to discover the lack of support for families who had been bereaved and the children who had been left behind. Not long after she met Carole (Director - Grief Recovery UK) and became a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®. As a teacher and University lecturer Catherine has 30 years’ experience in Early Years, Primary and University level education. Since 2013 she has been the proud Director of her own Community Interest (Social Enterprise) Company and works closely with the Health and Education Authorities and local business to provide Grief Recovery programmes and training.
Micro-Briefing

Lisa Richards
Certified Grief Recovery Specialist

For the last 25 years, Lisa has been practicing as an Urban Designer working for a number of local authorities across the Midlands.
She discovered Grief Recovery in June 2017 and decided to train as a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist a month later.

Since then, things have changed significantly. Having hidden in the shadows for such a long time, she can now talk openly about the tragic events that shaped her life without fear or judgement when sharing them with the wider world. By being more open, she has pushed herself forward to raise awareness of the Grief Recovery Method and the amazing work that Grief Recovery UK is doing. Consequently she has been featured in an article on positive mental health for Good Housekeeping magazine, as well as speaking at a Suicide Prevention Conference and appearing on live radio to launch a new pilot website for Public Health England. All of these things and the support of fellow specialists, have not only given her the confidence to tell her story to inspire others, but also more recently to leave her Urban Design job and focus on helping people to feel better.

Whilst Lisa won’t reveal what she is doing here, it does involve being followed by a camera crew!
