I undertook the Grief Recovery course in a group format recommended by a friend. It was so life changing that I became a Specialist to help others like you. 
Having had the suicide of a close friend followed by the suicide of my fourty-year-old brother six months later I was doing a good job at 'keeping very busy and pretending I was okay' until the death eighteen months later of my father then grandparents all within another year. 
Some deaths I could process and deal with and others left so many things left unsaid and unheard, which caused anger, sadness and increased anxiety. 
During this period I also chose to divorce and needed to provide emotional stability and support for my three young children. 
I can say with complete honesty that as a result of undertaking the Grief Recovery course I am now in a good place- happy in my life. My skills have enabled my children to be open about their feelings and communicate when they are sad. 
I was uneasy about doing a group but would recommend it as there is no comparison of losses and I got a lot out of it.

The personal aspects that needed to be identified and acknowledged were sometimes very difficult but at the same time provided a great release. “Since doing the course, my attitude towards my mother has changed considerably. I am still in communication with her, but it is now on my terms. If she says anything detrimental to me, I let it go over my head as I refuse to let it upset me. To be fair, she rarely says anything nasty these days, I think that because now I am more able to cope and don’t dwell on the past so much, my thinking has become much clearer and more focused on the present.

I sometimes still do have anxiety issues, but that is something I have to live with now, but at least the episodes are few and far between and bearable. Learning to let go of the past, to enjoy the present and look forward to the future are my goals these days, and so far it is working.”
